This may seem odd, but actually cufflinks predate the shirt! There is evidence of their use in ancient
hieroglyphics in the tomb of Tutankhamun. But cufflinks as we know them were first used during the 1700s.
A pair of solid gold cufflinks certainly complete an outfit for a man far better than buttons, and Celtic designs lend themselves particularly well to incorporating into cufflink jewellery.
